Phishing is a type of social engineering where an attacker sends a fraudulent (“spoofed”) message designed to trick a human victim into revealing sensitive information to the attacker or to deploy malicious software on the victim’s infrastructure like ransomware.

These are the commonly seen email phishing scams:

1. Two-factor authentication Alerts – it comes in your email or a text message. You should verify your account from a browser you opened on your device.

2. Update your online banking account scam. You should call the customer services of your bank to verify this communication.

3. Claim your IRS refund Scam. It asks you to create an e-refund account with a bank account. Do you already e-filing? You should call IRS or Tax accountant to verify it. Take extra precautions with unfamiliar emails.

4. The famous Netflix scam to update your payment details. It can come from any online payment service.
