After Apple looked into the matter, they have found it was an oversight in iOS9.?? The battery indicator stopped checking and reporting the current charge status of the battery after users manually changed the time zone.? The phone shuts off because the battery has run dry.
Apple support suggested two possible workarounds: Reboot your phone or turn the auto update ?on?, both approaches refresh the Date and Time of the phone.
Apple will release iOS 9.3 in few weeks; hopefully, the battery problem fix is included in this update.
